review 1: This was a full length novel about the kidnap of Penny. She was kidnapped as a revenge plot for something her father did, but we find out more details about the reasons later on in the book.There was a bit of violence in this book as you would expect considering we are talking drug cartels etc. And there was a bit of sexy time lol.I enjoyed reading the full story of why Penny was kidnapped, the dynamics of the cartel and trying to work out what exactly Roman’s game plan was. I was as much in the dark about his reasons as Tag and Theo were.The only thing I would say that didn’t really follow on, and I may be mistaken about my understanding of this bit so feel free to correct me, I read the prequel first and I’m sure it said that Tag held the chloroform over Penny’s ... moreface but in this book, it seemed to insinuate that Tag was just the babysitter and had nowt to do with the actual kidnap. If I’m right, then that little continuity error is actually quite a major oopsy and should have been picked up by the author’s beta readers or whoever picks over her plot lines before publication.Anyway, I enjoyed this story. It was slightly predictable in how it was going to end and what was going on with Tag and Theo but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book.I would say if you are looking for a dark read then this isn’t it. I would describe this as a “nice” kidnapping. No one was particularly bad and nowt horrendous happened. The target audience is maybe teenagers because there wasn’t anything too graphic in it.All in all though, I’d recommend it if you are looking for an easy to read, non-graphic kidnapping story.
review 2: I enjoyed this book very much. I loved the protectiveness that Tag felt for Penny. I liked that we were able to see from his POV, I think it's important when it comes to dealing with the male characters since they don't always verbalize what they are thinking or feeling. It makes you love the guys so much more! Penny was 21 and carefree until one wrong choice had her locked in a cabin of a boat in the middle of nowhere. Unaware of the reasoning and scared out of her mind she only had one choice and that was to listen to her gut and trust the man who was assigned to watch over her.Spending countless days held up with a beautiful girl like Penelope was only going to get Tag into some major trouble with his boss. He was there to protect her, watch after her, keep her safe until his boss was ready for her. He did figure that was should have been protecting his heart while he was at it. less
