review 1: I listened to this book on Audibles, and the narrator did a good job. This is the fourth book in the series and may be my favorite. Ral, Argernon, and Rever’s father, Berr, is the leader of the planet. Another species has kidnapped some earth women and brought them to Zorn to sell. Shanna is a strong female lead. She is captured by another species from a different planet and they take her to Zorn to sell her as a slave. Her character was an orphan raised in the social system. She grows up in some tough areas and learned to fight and defend herself; and she is doing a pretty good job of kicking the crap out of her captors when the Zorn leader stumbles upon the mêlée, and frees Shanna and runs off the thieves. Several Zorn men step up and offer to “bound” with ... moreShanna, but she wants no part of it. She tells the mad who saved her that she wants to go with him. He tells her that he cannot bound with her as he is already bound, even though his bound has not lived with him for 10 years. Shanna could care less. She expects to work to earn her keep. A lot goes on in this story. House Helpers that want to kill Shanna, a crazy bound that wants to turn Shanna into a whore, dignitaries that want to oblige, and a leader who can’t let her go. Shanna gets plenty of opportunity to kick some major Zorn behind. Fun read, or in my case, listen.
review 2: This is book 4 of the Zorn Warriors, and my first and only book I've read in this series. Normally jumping into a series you have that "I'm missing something feeling" but not with this one. It made for a great standalone, although now I want read the others. I love strong heroines, and Shanna certainly fit this bill. This made for a real page turner. Dohner's writing style is one of a kind and I'm hooked! less
