review 1: I really liked Mine To Chase which follows after "Scarred and Kilt" from the anthology Something Wicked This Way Comes II (which I also enjoyed).I think many readers really miss the extra goings on and extra experiences not found in shorter books. If we love it we just can't help wanting more of it to read but there are times when you can't start and finish a much longer book so they can still satisfy if written well as this book was.I liked the characters and everything was well explained and paced out and important to the story. The book started with Chase's mission to take out a rouge vamp. He enforces the rule that vampires are not to kill humans. Jasmine learned of the supernatural world when she was kidnapped and held captive by a rogue vampire. When Chase rescues her... more, we learn that she and Chase had met and been attracted to each other the previous year so their feelings when they meet again were natural and believable.Common in the wolf shifter genre, the knowledge of "mine" comes to Chase to confirm Jasmine is his one and only forever soulmate that their kind searches for and claims. He wants her to choose to be with him. With other supernaturals, Chase is stronger and has the "take charge and rule" alpha behavior because he's an alpha wolf shifter and vampire half breed but he's not so with the heroine.Villians have to be dealt with and taken care of which I thought was well done. Being a shorter book, we didn't get into their heads, so to speak, but it was made clear what motivated them and that they needed to be stopped. Two vampires from the previous story "Scarred and Kilt" were in the book and I would like to see the sister Chase protects have her own story.I've loved reading all Ms.Dohner's many books. I will read her next book in this storyline Lacey and Lethal.
review 2: I am a diehard Laurann Dohner fan. This book just totally missed the mark. I am unlikely to get anymore in this series due just from reading this one book. I think she has gone way overboard with the amount of blood that was in this book. Not sexy! It was not even a good plot. And I felt nothing for the characters. That being said I own every single other one of her books and loved them all except for this one. less
