The Winnie Years
review 1: In Thirteen plus One by Lauren Myracle, Winnie makes a list of things she needs to get done before going into high school. Each chapter has the title of one of her goals and reveals her solution to every item on that list. This book is about growing up, true friendship, and love that continues throughout the school year and summer. The best part of the book is the ending, after she was about to kiss this Jamaican boy she meets at camp, but refuses to cheat her beautiful boyfriend Lars. And in a way, Lars came to see her as a reward for staying true to all the important people in her life that she started to grow apart from. For example, when Amanda's cat dies, she invites Winnie over and they reconnect and make up for all the time that they had missed with each other. I th... moreink that it is so sweet how she makes amends with all of her close relations, it is very good closure to the story. I think that Lauren Myracle designed it that way because this book might be the end of the series. I really recommend this book and I know you will love it just as much as I do.
review 2: Winnie is a fourteen year old girl who is worried about high school. So she makes a list on what things to improve on before school starts. However, some things get in the way. For example, Winnie wants to spend the whole summer with her boyfriend Lars but he tells her that he is going to Germany and he only has a week to spend with her. Winnie doesn't know what to do. Her sister is going off to college and her boyfriend is going to Germany for the whole summer. So Winnie finds a camp in South Carolina on the beach studying sea turtles and she and her best friend decide to go. In the book, Winnie learns a lot about herself and others and she learns to respect them how they are. I loved this book and thankfully there are other books in the series that I will definitely read. less
