review 1: This is the first book I've read by this author and I picked it up because the book was free. I checked out the sample and from the opening pages I was hooked. The author clearly has a good grasp on the time period. I liked how she wove some historical events into the story. I enjoyed the characters of Amy and Colin, but the climax of the book came way too soon. Once Colin rescued Amy and married her, I kept waiting for another plot twist. Nothing much happens the last third of the book and I kind of got bored with it. It's not a bad read, but it wasn't the best regency I've read either. ... morewell is gone, Charles II reigns, and the London fire of 1666 has destroyed much of the city ushering in a new era building and of royal decadence. Society is clearly divided along class lines with very limited opportunities for upward mobility: a) a small privileged aristocracy, b) a class of skilled artisans and merchants, and c) a large, poor lower class.Against this background we meet Amethyst Goldsmith a talented young jeweler and the aristocratic Chase family. The novel traces the difficulties and triumph of the two main characters Amethyst and Colin Chase.Sex: several scenesViolence: non graphic and appropriate to the time less
