review 1: Elizabeth Aston is the consummate Austen scholar. She has six sequels and/or adaptations of Austen’s work on the market. That’s no small feat. She knows everything that there is to know about the grand lady herself and she brings that to the table for this book. She also brings a very real understanding of what it would be like to take on such a daunting task. The voice she creates for Georgina resonates with the reader in a fun, entertaining, and sometimes heartbreaking way.The heart of this book is about finding out who you are, what you love and how to connect with yourself. Like many of Austen’s characters, Georgina is a woman on a search to discover who she is. Everyone can identify with that struggle. No matter who you are, it’s likely a thought that’s cros... moresed your mind.I enjoyed this book tremendously and I would definitely recommend it for any fan of Jane Austen’s work. It’s a great addition to an Austen library.** Review copy provided by Touchstone.
review 2: This was a good romance, though I completely recommend skipping past the few smutty scenes. Thankfully the rest of the book wasn’t all swoon and lust, but instead something much better: Regency, and Jane Austen too! :D I loved the description of the setting and the fashions too, though I’m not very interested in fashion in modern times!I liked the heroine and hero and a lot, and most of the minor characters were also fun to get to know. The mystery of who might be sending secrets to England’s enemies was intriguing, and I wasn’t sure of my prediction for who might be the culprit (though I did end up being right). I like some uncertainty in that case, since I have to read on to find out!The resolution of both romance and mystery aspects of the plot was great and I liked how things wrapped up in both time periods. This will be an ebook I plan to read again sometime, and I’ll keep an eye out for other Regency stories from the same author. less
