Melanie Travis
review 1: Melanie Travis (former English teacher) is no longer working & decided to be a stay-at-home mom. However her Aunt Peg (Margaret) has other plans for Melanie & has gotten her job as a co-author/editor working for Edward March (CEO March homes, dog breeder, hoarder). His dreams are to write a memoir entitled Puppy Love. Melanie’s family consists of Sam (husband), Davey Travis (son), & Kevin (22 months). Bob is her ex-husband. Melanie also is a dog lover/trainer & shows poodles. They are: Faith (poodle), Tar (poodle), Eve (poodle), Raven (poodle), & Casey (poodle). The later gee puppy Augie. Robin (Irish setter) is Edward’s dog. Charlotte is his assistant. Melanie finally agrees to Edward’s offer but things turn for the worst & his son Andrew March (36, presiden... moret/COO March homes) is killed by a hit/run driver or was he murdered? Detective Wygod does some investigating & there are several suspects; Edward of course, Julia Davis (Edward ex-GF) & possibly Walt McEvoy (CFO March homes). Edward wishes to put the book on hold & have Melanie investigate Andrew’s death also. Will Melanie get harmed? What will she really uncover? Will Edward with Melanie help finish his memoir Puppy Love? A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written delightful but mysterious crime book. It was very easy to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. No grammar errors, repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great crime movie, or mini TV series. Made for an animal (dogs) lover. 1 you must read to the very end. Not something I normally rad but I enjoyed it. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars. review 2: So very glad that Laurien Berenson has given us another book in the wonderful Melanie Travis series. It's been way too long. Sort of like checking in on some good old friends. This book finds Melanie with a toddler in addition to 11 year old Davey, husband Sam, and a houseful of black standard poodles. Aunt Peg volunteers Melanie's services to help an old crony in the Dog Show World what she thinks will be a memoir of his time in the Dog world. It turns out the old coot thinks he was a fabulous Lothario! Then, of course, there's a murder, that Melanie has to help solve by unraveling the secrets hidden behind all the junk at the authors house. Needless to say, Melanie finds herself in danger, and ends up solving the murder. Too bad we don't have real like sleuths to help police in the real world solve their cases! less
