review 1: Oh my gosh. This book. I loved it. Definitely not for everybody, but if you have tiny bit of imagination you can get into it. It has fantasy themes so sometimes you have to use your imagination (which is blasphemy these days in literature!) connect a few dots and sometimes just be patient in waiting for things to be explained. It is so refreshing to read something that is in theory is boy meets girl, boy and girl have adventure, boy and girl fall for each other, overcome obstictles and live happily ever after. Yet have a slight twist on it which draws you in. It is set in a 24 hour time period roughly and at times I was worried it was going to become to ridiculously or overwhelming given the time frame. Luckily it didn't tho at times it did edge the line. Written in his an... mored her chapters the voices do not blend with each other yet give you a 360 view of what is happen to the character and how they are feeling giving a level of depth. Considering most dialogue is between Wolf boy and Wildgirl you dont feel isolated or sick of them because Hall weaved in other characters in time the change it up.There is no sudden cliff hanger yet implications made throughout the book that leave you wondering, well what happens now ?! There is closure but also enough questions for you to keep wanting more. I love that it is a series and cant wait to dive into shyness again. Again, not for everybody but for the avid Young Adult readers like myself I think its a must read. A excellent break up on what the monotone YA can sometimes feel like.
review 2: This book has left me a little confused! Now don't get me wrong the book was ok and in fact I started and finished it in the same evening! The context and the characters however have left me in the dark - pun intended as this book is based on a little suburb that is in perpetual darkness and has been for a few years now!The book is told from 2 points of view, Wild girl and Wolf boy. The chapters flick from one to the other, this was a little confusing to begin with but you get used to it!The story was good and the issues dealt in the book were normal issues just thrown with a different concept. So instead of druggies we had junkies who were craving sugar. There were your dreamers who were a different type of junky again and were addicted to dreaming/sleeping. You had the villain and of course you had the heros! Also was a little bit weird how certain aspects of people lives were not obvious to them but screamingly obvious to the reader - I don't know if this was on purpose or just incredibly stupid!I didn't like the ending but again not sure if it was done on purpose, as I have found out that there is a number 2 (didn't know this at time of reading)! So 3.5/5 for this book, really odd, very confusing but a quick read! less

Dark and gritty. Don't think the girls would be interested in it. Well written and sequel now out.
