review 1: You know those privileged moms who claim to have a middle class lifestyle when they don't? And the popular moms who claim to be awkward social outcasts when they're not? And the moms who talk about being misfits when in reality they have a lot of other moms fluttering around them? Well, sometimes moms like that are vaguely funny...vaguely. And they'll crack a joke or tell a funny story and their little crowd of hangers-on laughs uproariously and says things like 'ERMAGOD YOU ARE SOOOOO FUNNY YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK." This is that book.
review 2: (Despite the fact that Goodreads claims there is no Kindle version, I did download it as one of those cheap, Kindle books). Great summer read. Even though I am a grandmother, I failed when I was a young mother thos... moree hurdles such as PTA bake sales (hated 'em), laminating national geographic articles for preschoolers (and having to avoid laminating naked boobs), making elaborate, homemade presents for the teachers, etc. I just couldn't reach those professional standards of the self-appointed professional mothers. Chapters such as arriving late at the wrong rink for your son's ice hockey tournament, going to Vegas with girlfriends to take a class in pole dancing, and other gems are well-written and the humor is sustained. I so related to this book and it is belly-laughing-out-loud funny. I recommend it to any mother, mother-to-be, or grandmother. My daughter also downloaded it from Kindle at my recommendation. less
