review 1: The book kept my interest and was a quick read, but laid a bit more to the fiction side of historical fiction and reads just as a story would. I don't necessarily discredit the book for this as records from that time period must be hard to come by, and many of the life events of the characters do seem to ring true. Despite its "chick lit" nature the book does provide insight on a part of Edgar Allen Poe's life many may not be familiar with.
review 2: I am not a fan at all of Edgar Allen Poe. Yet after reading this fictious telling about his life from the point of view of his young bride, I gained a better undestanding of everything he went through to become the writer he was. I had to read a few of his poems while reading this book and I'll probably read it a
... moregain in the future. There was only one scen in the book that could have been changed, but it was doen in a way to show how his wife needed to be cared for as a person and not a burden. less

Thoroughly enjoyable. One I had a hard time putting down, and have passed on to several people.

I didn't finish this one. Not past-paced or twisted enough for this E.A. Poe fan!
