review 1: A lot of what happens in this book is as confusing to the reader as it is the main character. However, I plugged along in this easy page turner hoping that by the end both of our questions would be answered. I suddenly arrived at the last page thinking there had to be more that I'd missed. I really enjoyed this early Stephen King genre book. But King is great at tying up loose ends and leaving the reader satisfied and glowing with pleasure. Gout did nothing more than frustrate me and left me feeling unfulfilled.It's too bad because I was going to give this book 4 stars, but now it's only going to get 2. Pity.
review 2: Very different, mind-warp of a book. When I got to the end I'm not sure if I fully understood exactly what was going on, but I definitely... more don't regret reading it. Some great moments in here, including two of the main characters singing in an ambulance, and a "caller segment" about halfway through the book about a caller whose reality keeps changing around him, that I thought would make a really nice standalone short story. less
