review 1: Reviews are mixed: my 7 and 9 yr old boys loved it (because it was so silly) but my 5 yr old couldn't stand it and protested loudly when it came time to read it. Personally, I can see why it has been a classic of children's literature but I prefer the Wizard of Oz series. We only made it through Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but I doubt that we will make it through Through the Looking-Glass. Odd note: This is the first Disney adaption that has remained true to the book that I can think of. (If you don't count the original fairy tale adaptions like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty) I was pretty amazed that it was so accurate with very few omissions. Characters remained true to their first incarnation.

Charles Lutwidge Dogson, mejor conocido por el seudónimo de Lewis Carroll, se ha convertido en un autor que admiro mucho. Además, tengo la suerte de haber adquirido una edición que te presenta detalladamente en inglés la mayoría de los juegos de palabras que emplea el autor, y yo, pues soy una fanática de los juegos de palabras y lógica porque adoro el ingenio que desprenden.Desde pequeña, yo ya me sabía más o menos la historia de la querida Alicia, habiendo visto la película y leído un libro de letras grandes bordado de figurillas y dibujos. Pero este año, ha sido la primera vez que realmente me he lanzado hacia el agujero y he visitado el Mundo de las Maravillas, y ha sido una experiencia muy amena y divertida.Me encantó la manera de emplear el recurso de la infancia para criticar ciertas normas sociales, políticas y educativas sirviéndose de la imaginación de un ser inocente y puro, una niña. Y aunque parezca una historia sólo para niños/as, ¡para nada! Para comprender toda la simbología, moralejas y el surrealismo que desborda el libro a lo largo de la historia, hay que tener una mente muy abierta e imaginativa ―propia de un niño/a― a la par que madura. Es un libro que trata sobre la niñez y la madurez, tener claras nuestras metas, la consciencia de "yo"...¿No es increíble que un libro que aborda temas como la lógica, la filosofía y la psicología, sea considerado un clásico infantil? Para mí es uno de los mejores libros que he tenido el placer de leer, de verdad. less

I read Through The Looking Glass first. Did it for my new novel project on GWP. It took one day to finish the book and I really like how Sir Lewis playing the words. Oh, forget to add, I read the Indonesian version. The bad thing is the poet. I hope that The Jabberwocky was written in English, but the explanation in Indonesian hehe. Okay, it must be a weird request.Now I'm dying to death to read the English version!All that I can say is, I learn many thing from this book.

Six stars. 10 stars! This is quite possibly the best, finest, most brilliant and utterly, sizzlingly, snickerly genius book ever written. Compare it to other books written for children in 1861. See what I mean? "Alice" needs no changes to words, format, illustrations, even binding, to make it fresh for today. Other books written only recently have dated more. "Alice" transcends other children's literature. C. Dodgson was truly a blue-ribbon-brain.
