review 1: A very short, amusing, and insightful essay on "feeding the mind". Carroll analogizes eating (for the body) to reading (for the mind). We do not eat meal after meal after meal, until we are utterly sick; instead, we eat one meal and let it digest before diving in to the next. Our approach to reading should be much the same. Carroll writes "whereas the body needs three to four hours between meals, the mind needs only three to four minutes". He goes on to advise that, while reading, we take short breaks every hour or so, instead of gorging ourselves and restricting our mental digestion. It would make sense for anyone reading this review (or any other review of this short essay), to simply read the actual words penned by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, more frequently known by hi... mores pen name Lewis Carroll.
review 2: 4/2014 A small volume with an essay about how feeding the mind is as important as feeding the body. Lewis challenges readers to find a balanced approach to reading. He urges readers to make wholesome vs. unwholesome choices, to not read gluttonously, to limit number of genres at one time, to rest 3-4 minutes every hour or so, and to think about what one is reading. He claims this approach will produce a well read person! less

Mai mult un articol decât o carte, o menţionez aici doar pentru a o recomanda cu căldură.
