review 1: Short review this time, as it is difficult to put words to why i didn't like this book more. It just didn't work well for me. It was alright, but the story rang false to me for some reason. It seemed forced and squeezed. It was an interesting plot concept, and the two main characters were endearing and I wanted them to succeed, but, IMHO, it wasn't executed in the best way. Okay, but nothing special.
review 2: Recommended by Nancy L for the QGB3 2011. I found this to be a solid story but one that didn't really grab me. The plot was interesting but nothing new. ... moreome together in a showdown that leads to a new power dynamic. Both Alec and Grier are emotionally damaged but these issues are not really enlarged upon. I think the book was too short to really explore all the elements that were introduced. We meet at one stage Alec's female best friend from school who displays the obsessive and intrusive behaviour that is such a stereotype of the female BFF in MM romance. Grier has a male friend who is OTT and slutty and this results in some snarky/jealous dialogue between him and Alex, Grier's new love interest. In the final denouement I felt that the baddies were taken down too easily. In the end I just didn't care a lot about these characters or this story but I don't regret reading it. It was a pleasant enough way to pass a couple of hours. less
