One of my favorite stamp sets in the 2017-18 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is Garden Girl. There’s just something about that cute little blonde gardener that reminds me of another adorable and sweet little blonde. Miss Amelia loves to help in the garden. She especially likes to help water the garden with the hose. And if the hose should happen to slip a little and spray someone, it’s even more fun.
I decided to do a stained glass version of the Garden Girl and use Stampin’ Blends.
I stamped the image in Basic Black Archival Ink on Vellum Cardstock. Because the ink takes a little longer to dry on vellum, I sprinkled some Clear Embossing Powder over the ink and heated with my heat tool. This kept the ink from smudging and gave me a black embossed image as well.
After the embossing cooled, I turned the vellum over and colored the back with Stampin’ Blends. Her dress and hair ribbons are Calypso Coral, her hair and boots are Daffodil Delight, the carrots are Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie, and the basket is a mix of Crumb Cake and the Bronze Skin Tone. I also colored her skin with the Ivory Skin Tone marker.
After coloring, I adhered the vellum to a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I added a little Crumb Cake Scalloped Border. I punched a Decorative Ribbon Border then adhered it behind the Whisper White layer with the scalloped side peeking out.
The Love You sentiment is from Baby Bear. It’s perfect for this Calypso Coral card.
If you’re wonderin how I made the notched corners – it’s a circle punch. Simply stick a corner of the card into the punch. You don’t want to push your cardstock in too far, so you’ll want to practice on scrap paper to get an idea of how far you want to go.
I know it’s weird to think about gardening in November (at least in this hemisphere!). I’m already planning next year’s garden. Around August, I get really tired of the daily chores, but now that we’ve had several frosts and the garden is gone, I miss it. Having fresh product daily is such a treat.
