review 1: Usually I'm a sucker for anything fairy tale, but Rump took me a long time to get into. The main character, Rump was just a hair too bitter for me to really like for most of the book, and the humor was appropriate for a 10-year old. As that's the age for which Rump was written that's not actually a bad thing. Still, while I would recommend this book to my students it doesn't hold up quite as well to an adult audience.
review 2: I picked this one up because of the title and then found out it made the 2014 Bluebonnet List. I can totally see why--fractured fairy tale with lots of adventure and an interesting backstory. Enjoyed. Good fantasy for boys or girls. Great tie-in from many fairytales.
