review 1: Intriguing, lots of dynamic for the plot and characters... I enjoyed it, though the editing was not good... I found many errors.Evie just wants to start over, but being the daughter of a small town murderer makes that tough - even if you were too young to be a part of the scandal. She has no choice but to try and fit in, since she's been involved in an adulterous scandal with her superior back in NY. Hopefully Bright's Ferry won't hold her mother's mistakes against her...
review 2: Loved the premise of the story. Fast and enjoyable read. Only problem I had was that the author gave us a supposedly strong, independent character (NYPD cop)who wanted nothing more to do with men controlling her life, then wrote her doing the opposite. She fell for a guy based on his
... more looks (shallow reason) and became submissive to his demands the first time he touches her. To me, this weakened the character and I lost my emotional attachment to her immediately. Could have used a little more play with the sensual tension instead of long repeated descriptions of sex scenes. But that's just my preference. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more of Rede's work. less
