review 1: Terminal Freeze by Lincoln Child would be the perfect basis for an original SyFy monster movie. Set in Alaska’s Federal Wildlife Zone, it follows a team of scientists on an expedition to study the effects of global warming as well as gather information about the ancient ecosystem of the area. One day while gathering samples, the team makes a discovery in the ice that changes their lives forever. The story is full of suspense and horror that keeps the plot moving without being pointlessly violent and gory the way so many supernatural stories seem to be these days. The mix of science and mythology makes it so interesting that I want to read it again to make sure I did not miss anything.
review 2: Interesting enough for me to read and interesting enough for
... moreme to check out another one of his books to read, but I think it's a shame that this guy is stuck next to Lee Child and all his fantastic Reacher books. Evidently, though, one of the characters in this book is some kind of enigma-ologist and it falls to him to figure out what to do to keep the monster from ripping everyone's limbs off. So I checked out another book by this guy and I'll let you know how that one goes. less
