review 1: Death by BikiniLinda GerberAphra, a sixteen year old girl, works at her fathers resort and noticed a family had arrived on the island that wasn't scheduled; she knew something was wrong judging by the way they whispered into her dad's ear. The next day, she notices that her dad gave them a villa that was under renovation, and hadn't checked the family in. Basically, the family wanted to be kept a secret, which made Aphra eager to know why. She did some research on them, and put everybody in danger.I really liked this book because it was very descriptive and interesting. It was very fun to read and I couldn't stop reading it whenever I picked it up! I liked how Linda Gerber made the setting and conflict have a completely different mood. This book is very adventurous, so I e... morenjoyed feeling like I was Aphra and experiencing that situation. My favorite part was when Seth, who is a teenage boy that is part of the secretive family, was helping Aphra breath underwater, and Aphra thought Seth was trying to kiss her, so she returned this "kiss."I'd recommend this book to 10-14 year olds who like adventurous and mystery books. This is because some parts were a bit too complicated for some elementary schoolers because there were a few confusing parts and it would be too easy for a high schooler top read. There was a little bit of mystery because Aphra wanted to know why the family were very secretive, how they know Aphra's mother, and who killed Bianca. There was also some adventure because Aphra and Seth were running and hiding from a murderer.
review 2: The book Death By Bikini by Linda Gerber is about a teenage girl who lives on an island resort with her father. One day the young girl Aphra finds a dead body on the beach, around the same rime a strange family, the Smiths had checked into the resort. Through out the book Aphra tries to figure out the murder and starts to fall for "Adam Smith". It was very suspenseful, "Hisako stopped dead in her tracks. She pointed to the shoreline ahead. "What is that?" I sheilded my eyes and squinted. Something large had washed up on the shore. A log maybe. No,it was a person". I really liked how it made it seem like the "Smiths" were the killers, when actually they weren't. Another thing I liked was that it was not only a mystery but also kind of a romance novel because of Seth and Aphra. I would recomend this book for anyone sixth grade and up because I feel that it is for a more mature audiance because of the small bit of violence at the end. Over all I really liked this book, it kept me very entertained. less
