review 1: 2.5 stars. Older publication. A novelette. Pretty boring. Six months before the story begins they had torrid sex, but something he did justifiably scared her away, so she has kept her distance ever since. He wants to know why she withdrew, but she has been giving him the cold shoulder for six months, even though they work in the same office complex -- even on the same floor. When they are trapped in the locked building for almost 24 hours during a black out / heat wave, they repeatedly have sex and talk over their differences.
review 2: I really liked this short story. Elizabeth and Tom Quinlan might have an auspicious past but Tom plans to take advantage of this lockdown with her to break down her defenses. Caught together during a blackout in a building with
... more such high tech security that when the power goes out so does there chance of getting out. Elizabeth has been running from Tom for over eight months, avoiding him at every turn. He doesn't know what the problem is but he knows he's done letting her run and is taking matters into his own hands. He is bound and determined to work it out because he knows a good thing when he sees it. Elizabeth has never gotten over a violent relationship and she is a little wary of relinquishing control to any man again. less
