review 1: Good book and great start to a series. There were a few things I partially didn't like about the story like how I really wanted Vance to be the bad guy for one. It had it's suspenseful moments that even had me on the edge. I wish there was more of the book or at least more of the story between Brianna and Logan. I am excited to read the next book but do wish for more romance. Logan and Brianna had their romance but it just wasn't memorable I guess. I'm not talking about romance in the bedroom either, I'm talking about more scenes with just them. On to the next...
review 2: AudiobookI was enjoying this book until about chapter 7. I understand Brianna keeping the peace with her ex for the sake of her boys, but letting him run roughshod all over her is a bit too
... moremuch. I don't know why she thinks it is ok to have the husband and new wife sleep on her pull out couch. Why she didn't tell them that, for the sake of small ears listening, they should definitely not think about having sex in her house (not that it specifically goes on that we know of). Nor why she feels she can't tell the ditzy new wife to not be half naked around her young boys. She needs to protect her boys first, worry about their dead beat dad second. And it is her house. His bounced child support checks did not pay for it, and coming in with a wad of cash late in the game does not make up for it. Holy cow...I want to smack Brianna for letting Vance walk back into her life and then make decisions for her. And Heather needs a smack upside the head. I understand she is in a tough situation with the boys' dad popping back in. I am sure there is fear he will take them, and she is trying to keep everyone happy to make the best of the situation. But she needs to grow a spine and lay down the law sometimes. Vance needs to be the one working overtime to prove himself and make it up to his boys.So I had to jump ahead a bit, hard to do in an audiobokk but I managed. I almost stopped listening to this one, even though I wanted to. I just couldn't handle the Brianna/Vance situation. I feel better about the outcome of the book, though I did not jump to the end. Just enough for me to know I should keep reading. The book got better toward the ending. I really liked Logan's character and felt he balanced out the issues I had with Brianna. He voiced the same opinion as mine, on more than one occasion, to her. So I felt in sync with him. I still found myself yelling at the narrator at times. I am going to continue with the series since the library has all 3 on audio. less
