review 1: Hmmm. There was some nice ideas in this story but all in all it was a little long winded and overblown (I actually preferred the author's note which stated these ideas far mor succinctly). I love Lionel Shriver's writing and while still in evidence, it lacked the punch of her other work. Based on this, I'm not convinced she can carry off satire for an entire book. This novel is that point. It reads as diatribe with an odd lack of copy-editing. Not unreadable, but a poor representation of this author's often stunning ability. less

This book had way too much political talk for me. And Edgar was shallow and not super likable.

A bit madcap, but enjoyable. Great examination of the concept of terrorism and point of view.
