review 1: With the way the story began, I was really expecting much more. For the most part the story felt like it didn't have any real direction. The parts that did carry my interest were blended with parts that just didn't add to the story or to any of the characters. Every time something was revealed about a character it felted pushed and unnecessary. There was tremendous potential to make the story captivating and interesting but for the most part reading the book felt like a chore. I would have loved to read what Riley was thinking or what any of the other characters thought or had to say. There was so much background noise with all the other characters that made the main character seem annoying after a while. For the most part the story felt like I was reading someone's diary ... moreinstead of a story about a beautiful, talented girl that finds her independence and learns about love, lust, and loss in the span of one year.
review 2: I loved this book. I was gripped from the first chapter and had the book completed in two days. I loved all the characters that were introduced and felt like I really got to know them. Loved Tara and Riley's story and can't wait to see what happens next in Songbird Caged which I have on my kindle ready to start. The flow of the book is excellent and the authors writing is great. There are some twists and turns in the book and the attraction and romance elements are very well done. Overall, this is an author that I have enjoyed reading and I know I won't hesitate to buy her books in the future. less
