review 1: This book was very well told with elements of fiction, but also with a lot of historic facts as well. The characters were made up, but there was also a lot of real life figures from the Civil War. It was a little slow to get going, but once it did, I could hardly put the book down. I found myself thinking about when I could read some more and what was going to happen next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves history and books with a great story to go along with it!!
review 2: I liked this book quite a bit. I liked how the characters developed and how they had to adjust their lives to survive. I have gone to Gettysburg this pass summer. It was cool to hear about the battles and places in the book and imagine them in my mind. Both of the ch... morearacters I loved. Rosanna took me a little while longer to love, but in the end she came through. I also liked the romance in the book. The romance was a big part of the development of the characters, but the romance did not take over the whole book. Also Rosanna reminded me a bit of Scarlett O'Hara when she still liked Henry Phelps. In contrast to those positive thoughts, parts of the book did not seem realistic. I don't think a general would listen to a girl in the middle of a battle. I was also not so satisfied with the ending. But other than that it was a pretty good book! less
