review 1: My heavens, this is a GORGEOUS cover!!! (I picked this trilogy up at the library for the covers alone.)My feelings on these books are mixed. On the one hand, the cover is gorgeous, and some of the characters are really appealing. There's some funny spots, too, especially with the four fairies. On the other hand, the loose "plots" of each book wander around upside-down and sideways and very weird nonsense things happen. It makes me feel like I'm watching Jim Henson's "Labyrinth," and nothing makes sense and things just randomly happen. That whole "Race to save Nate" part at the end was the weirdest of all. (PS, Bertie: PICK ARIEL!! They both have their good and bad points but Nate's kind of annoying. She'll probably pick neither and just go off on her own at the end of the... more third book, sigh...)
review 2: It definitely wasn't as good as the first. This one was more confusing, and there were a few things I disliked about this book in addition to my objections to the first one.I really didn't like how Ariel was portrayed as the villain in the first book and now he's part savior, part angry and jealous man, and yet still an old-fashioned gentleman.Also, Bertie's powers thoroughly baffled me in this book. There were many scene changes, and her powers were uncontrollable, and that whole aspect of the book was just plain confusing.While I'm not as excited about this series anymore, I will still read the third book, if only to gain closure. less
