review 1: The book has a very interesting premise, but for the most part it was disappointing. The characters are flat and one-dimensional, and T.J.'s actions bothered me for most of the book. I think the whole "I can't trust anyone" was overplayed, and it got to the point where I was rolling my eyes every time it was mentioned. There were also a number of discrepancies within the book, when one thing is said about magic but then contradicted in the next chapter. Finally, there was a huge build-up to the final action scene, and it was over in about two paragraphs. Some nice love scenes though, which earned it two stars.
review 2: Have you ever felt inspiration hit you? You know...when an idea just pops into your head and you have to write it down? When a trickle o
... moref a thought becomes a tidal wave? Something like that must have happened to Ms. Plumley. From her letter to readers in the book, the author states never having written in the paranormal romance genre. You could not tell. Ms. Plumley built a complex world with history and culture. The witches and warlocks who practice magic have been in hiding from humankind since the witch hunts centuries ago. Most want to live their lives away from humanity, while others seeks refuge in it. One such was the heroine. Dayna was never very good at magic and always felt the outsider. When she had the chance she fled to the human world of office machines, traffic jams and ATMs. T.J. is sent by his bosses at the IAB (think a magic using version of the FBI) to bring back this roaming witch so that she can participate in classes that will bring her into her full witch powers. Let's just say that Dayna does not wish to return and wreaks a little havoc (unconsciously) before T.J. can convince her to come with him. T.J. finds Dayna frustrating, stubborn and very attractive. Also she turns out to be his bonded lifemate, which he REALLY wasn't expecting.Meanwhile, not all is well in Covenhaven. There are some witches and warlocks who want a return to the Old Ways and will use black magic to do so. There is a traitor in the IAB. Dayna has to sit through classes that are reminiscent of high school including the mean girl cliques and then deal with T.J. who is in denial of their mutual attraction to one another. So My Favorite Witch contains romance, humor and a suspenseful subplot that keeps you reading. All in all, I enjoyed My Favorite Witch. Hopefully, there will be more tales from Covenhaven.Recommended. less

Started out great, then seemed a bit aimless in the middle, fell apart at the end.
