review 1: So many mysteries have a cookie-cutter feel. It's a real pleasure to find one that has unexpected twists and turns, that doesn't sound like the formula for a Lifetime Movie Network offering. This book grabbed me and pulled me in. Even though it was not a quick read, I hung on for the ride, rudely reading it instead of socializing with visitors. It's got a nice sense of atmosphere, of time and place, and it is besotted with that lovely Southern Gothic feeling. If you think you have it all figured out in the first few chapters, think again. The clues are there, but the story is so convoluted that it's hard to figure out all -- or even most -- of it. Kudos to Turner. I'll be keeping an eye out for any other books she may have written.
review 2: I loved this book a... morend will definitely want to read another Lisa Turner book. There were times I felt like I was watching an old Phillip Marlowe movie and I could just visualize the whole scene. On top of that, she lets you figure out a little of the mystery but still manages to have a couple big surprises at the end! I like a little romance mixed in with my mysteries and this book didn't disappoint me there, although it wasn't a major part of the story. It's definitely an easy read and quite a page turner! less
