review 1: This is the second book I've read by this author and I am impressed - the characters are strong and feel quite real. Yet something about this one both gained and repelled my interest. It had nothing to do with their romance, of that I am certain - I found it endlessly entertaining. Although what happened before that made Phaedra shut down and enjoy a less vibrant life made me fair vibrate in anger. I am so very glad that Tristan and Phaedra were brought together to be found in each other's arms. It was definitely worth the read.
review 2: Probably not going to become one of my favorite authors but I did enjoy this book. The paths of the protagonists collide while Lady Phaedra is looking for a maid (who her brother had seduced and impregnated) and Lord Tristan T... morealbot is trying to infiltrate a certain brothel in order to shut down a spy ring. Charming story but a bit maudlin. Phae, it turns out, had been seduced by a friend of her brother's when she was fifteen, gotten pregnant and was forced to either have an abortion or give up the baby in France (I can't remember). She is therefore incredibly involved in finding her husband's mistress so that her niece has a mother. less
