review 1: Breakfast Club meets grocery store. But I loved Breakfast Club, so that's not a criticism. Diverse group of characters, great voice from the narrator, funny list device - To Do, Top 10 Weirdest, My Five Least-Favorite Christmas Carols That I Used To Think Were OK Before Working In A Store That Played Them Nonstop For Two Straight Months. Also interesting that the main character has Type I diabetes. I'll go back and check out the previous book by Czukas - Ask Again Later. Good read for someone ready for YA books, but doesn't want anything too dark or heavy.
review 2: Super cute. Might need to suspend disbelief a little bit and remember it's all just for fun. But it is super cute and if you enjoyed Ask Again Later, I really think you'll enjoy this one as well. I ... moreliked getting to know the characters and liked the MC's voice. She wasn't my favorite narrator ever nor was this the best story I've ever read, but it was a lot of fun and a very fast read. And it's set on Christmas Eve! That's always a bonus. less
