review 1: Kristan "Stan" Connor is settling in her home in Frog Ledge, Connecticut and her dog and cat organic treat business is slowly growing. She even gets hired to cater a doggie party at the neighbor's dairy farm. Unfortunately, the party comes to a screeching halt when the owner of the farm, Hal Hoffman, is found murdered in the holiday corn maze. As is often the case with small towns, Stan finds herself helping the widow, Em, with her financial records which appear to be in deplorable condition. Could Em have killed her husband because he wasn't helping her and the family with the farm? Or was the dairy farm just an innocent casualty to his death? This is the second book in this series and the characters are becoming more fleshed out. I like the romantic signals between Sta... moren and Jake, the local bar owner. Also very colorful is her neighbor, Char, owner of a bed and breakfast/Alpaca farm. Stan's snooty mother even makes an appearance in this story. And if course there are the great dog and cat characters in the town. I am looking forward to further stories from Frog Ledge.
review 2: I was a First Read Winner of this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the second book of the series and I can't wait for the Author to write more. I love all the characters, human and pets alike, and it was fun trying to guess who the bad guys were in the book. It had action and a budding romance, what else could you want? Since I am also a dog lover I especially enjoyed all the interactions with the pets of the town, I have never been to a doggy Birthday Party but I am willing to go, I had a hard time putting the book down. Plus I want to start making some of my own doggy treats now too. But you really don't have to be a Dog lover to enjoy this book, the Author loves Cat's just as much. Very entertaining and a good Read. less

Ok book. The ending is contrived, but the dairy farm info is good.
