review 1: Interesting book. Nice premise with her "magic fingers." My only criticism is the opposite of what I would normally say. I often sigh in frustration at books that are written from what is called "deep point of view." In other words, you get every thought, every quivering, every anxiety that ever enters the characters mind. IMO, most of those books go overboard in helping you understand the inner workings of the main character. This book tries to do that but I don't know, it was missing something. It almost felt like Dashiell Hammett trying to do deep point of view. It was perfunctory and rather factual, short on the emotions? There just wasn't enough background I guess to support it? Something was off, hard to put my finger on it, but still worth the ... moreread.
review 2: What a great book! Very well written, and El was likeable right from the get go..the author did a great job of making her very strong, gifted with a "6th sense" if u will so i dont spoil anything, and yet vurnable at the same time. She was so very real from the begining, that you can almost picture her as your neighbor. I love that the other charecters were very mysterious you could tell that something was there, but it was written in a way that you ended up 2nd guessing yourself. I can not wait to read the next book in the series! will b downloading it asap. :) less
