Verse Of The Day: Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. Proverbs 20 : 17

LISTEN: Deceit is a dishonest behaviour: behaviour that is meant to fool or trick someone. It is an act against the commandment of God. Many trick others to amass wealth for themselves, get to the top, pull down others, and do many bad things to their own gain. However, the ‘sweetness and joy of deceit’ do not last long. It satisfies now and hurts later. Deceit is sinful and should be shunned. Many are blinded by the so-called benefits they derive from deceit, as a result, they are willing to follow the will of the devil instead of God’s. The kind of blindness that led Adam and Eve and the entire human race to doom and severance from God, tragedy, suffering and death. Beloved, open your eyes. Do not be deceived. The devil entices people just to destroy. (John 10 : 10a). The devil is the thief who comes to you with the promise of a better life while his plan is to deliver misery, shame and death to you. He has nothing good to offer to you, but death. When he entices you to commit sin, his plan for you is to die (Romans 6 : 23).

Beloved, do not deceive or be deceived. Whatever you sow you will reap. Whatever you gain by deceit or hurting others, you will pay for it later. Our verse of the day says, ” Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. (Proverbs 20 : 17). This means that anything acquired by deceit will get you into trouble. So “bread,” got by deceit may tastes sweet at first, but ends by leaving the hunger of the soul unsatisfied. There is a pleasure in the sense of cleverness felt after a hard bargain or a successful fraud, but the consequences thereof are huge. Beloved, be wise! Do not disobey or dishonour God to please yourself. Truly, disobedience to God will expose you to shame, regrets, satanic attacks, misery, spiritual emptiness and the likes. Therefore, shun deceit and your life will not be a nightmare.
