review 1: If ever there was a book I was obsessed with, it is “Other Words For Love” by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal. That one got me crying and heartbroken, because it’s so beautiful and real. So real that it tortured me. But in the way you want to be tortured while reading a book. I was addicted to the characters, the story, and the 1980s. It was an incredible experience. I have read that book three times already and will probably open it again soon. So I had to pick up the author’s second novel, and I wasn’t disappointed. “New Money” is a different type of story, but I still loved it. It reminded me of a glamorous TV show with fascinating characters and gripping plots that keep you hooked. I respected Savannah, mainly because she faced up to rough situations, did what sh... moree could to help people, and kept Caroline’s secret. There were a lot of plot twists, especially with the Jack and Alex relationships, and I was surprised by where the story lines went. I finished this novel in just a few hours because I was dying to know what was going to happen in the next chapter. Excellent read! The author is so good at capturing New York.
review 2: Maybe a case where sum of the whole was more than the parts, or maybe I was in a really good mood reading this book, but I truly enjoyed it. I mean, the storyline wasn't groundbreaking- poor "trailer trash" girl from Charleston suddenly comes into a ton of money, but HAS to move to NYC and work for an awesome/famous women's magazine. Guys are throwing themselves at her because she's just so different from the other NYC women. Add in a family that she never knew about. Blah, blah, blah family secrets/skeletons in the closet...and HEA. The End. less
