review 1: This is a gripping tale of adventure, love, greed, and ignorance, set during the gold rush era in Canada and Alaska around 1900. It is told from the point of view of a woman from England who marries an American and then reluctantly partners up with three other men to stake a claim in a very remote and dangerous wilderness area. Like so many wannabe miners of that day, they were totally unprepared for what lay ahead.
