review 1: This was a really good book, with an important life lesson weaved within the pages. I have often tried to teach my own kids, that if you carry around hurt, or anger, you are only hurting yourself. You are not hurting the person that caused that pain. Once you let go of that pain, and anger, Love, and Peace can be found. Alexei had been carrying around anger, and pain for 15 years. The pain of losing his family. Once he was able to let go of that anger and pain, he was able to feel Love, and peace. The story starts out with Paige running from men that wanted to hurt her. When Alexei herd her scream he came to her aid. Alexie knew Paige wasn’t like any other women he had ever known. He showed her one magical evening. The night was like a fairy tale, which most of us can on... morely picture in dreams. That night they created a baby. The story has twist and turns, and the suspense was good. There were parts I wanted to yell at Alexei, but that is typical in books like this. I’m from Texas, so I really enjoyed the last chapter. **Spoiler** My favorite part of the book, that came from last chapter.Sample from Chapter 13 – “”But, Paige, I have been drawn to you from the first moment I met you. You are unlike anyone I’ve ever known. You are so fierce and strong, yet you don’t seem to always know it. You are uncertain of yourself sometimes, uncertain of your beauty and appeal, and you have the kindest heart of anyone I know. You cry over art, you laugh like an angel, and you’d fight to the death to protect those you love.” The tears were flowing down her cheeks now, and he wiped them away with his thumbs. “Shh, Please don’t cry, Paige. It breaks my heart when you cry.”
review 2: i absolutely loved it !! this was a keeper ! i who thought i didn't like plain jane heroines, i was greatly surprised. infact it's usually the books which i love best because you really see how the love evolved and how the hero fell in love with the complete package and not only wid her lustful body ! this one was definitely a great read with just the right pace..not all authors can do that. there's usually some part which seems odd in a book; as if it was not appropriate at that particular moment or it got boring as the author could not maintain the pace. but not this one! as i said, it was just the right pace and always entertaining. the start was absolutely unique !! it made me think of another favourite of mine, the sultan's choice by abby green. in that also, the heroine was an ugly duckling but i loved it amazingly. if you loved this one, don't miss the sultan's choice. i must point out that paige was not plain but it was she who felt awfully plain and dressed down. it was logical that she had an inferiority complex bcoz her sister was tall, blonde and gorgeous. so though she was pretty, she felt plain. less
