Melanie Dobson
Dear Readers,
I am not sure what attracted me to Catching the Wind by Melanie Dobson, but for some reason this book practically begged me to read it. I am glad it was so persistent. I really enjoyed the slightly different story about WWII tied once again to a present day story.
Brigitte Berthold goes missing. She and her knight in shining armor escape when the Gestapo grab their families for helping the Jews and now the two are on the run. Brigitte and Daniel have always been best friends and Daniel swore to protect her always. But when they reach England’s shore they get separated and Daniel never saw Brigitte again. Now he is trying to find her.
Quenby is hired by Daniel, now well in his 90’s, to find Brigitte back. She doesn’t know why he thinks she can succeed where his hired investigators have failed. Since the new story she was working on has been halted, she agrees.
Once again the mixture of past and present makes this story one that helps us learn from the past. Melanie’s characters are believable and the storyline draws you back to continue the journey to find Brigitte. I wanted to make sure she was okay. I wanted to rescue her from the situation she found herself in. I also wanted to ask if she would rather have stayed with her parents than what had happened. All of these reactions were why I really enjoyed this book.
Happy Reading,
