review 1: Note: Book provided by author for review.3 1/2 stars. An interesting twist on the vampire tale. My absolute favourite character in this book was the dog, Zeke. Absolutely loved the dog - I am a huge dog person! The characters in this book were very well written and realistic. There were editing issues that really detracted from my enjoyment of the book. As well, the frustration of the main character was a little too palpable to me. I was intensely frustrated throughout most of the book by the inability of any character to reveal anything. Even at the end of the book when "everything was coming together" I was still confused about how they all ended up where they were and why. The world-building was a little patchy - the paranormal portion of the world is still very gray an... mored foggy to me. Overall, this was a likeable book with a new take on the vampire story. I enjoyed the realistic feel of the dialogue and the author's writing style.
review 2: I enjoyed this book, as it constantly kept me guessing what the heck is going to happen next. This book is about a girl named Lexi who is an investigator who deals with mostly civil cases at her firm. She is out one night trying to catch a cheating husband in an act of infidelity with herself as bait when the unspeakable happens. Lexi is held captive by someone she can't she and OMG he bit her, then she wakes up on a roof top with no idea how she got there. You get to follow Lexi through this story as she learns that she has powers, and starts to learn how to use them. This book definitely left me wanting more. less
