review 1: This book skillfully balances a moving personal story with competently-researched history to tell a story of fate and folly in Central Europe. Besides learning much about Munich, the Czech underground in World War II, and the beginning of the Cold War, the reader finishes with a strong feeling that President chose very well when he appointed Madeleine Albright as the first female US Secretary of State.
review 2: I don't often read biographies, and this might be perhaps why, I appreciate language, and the power language has to tell a story; and not just a listing of events and words.
