review 1: Maggie Brendan’s characters make this novel stand out among the rest of the historical romance genre. The hero and heroine fast become your friends, and the supporting cast cries out for their stories to be told. Although it follows some of the predictable paths romances do, paradoxically, Brendan weaves in enough of her unique style to keep it unpredictable. I didn’t read the first book in the Heart of the West series, but I’m going to buy it, and I’m looking forward to the third book in the series. This from a reviewer who is not a fan of historical romances. If you are, you’ll love it. If like me, you’ aren’t, you’ll still love it. Novel Reviews and I give it a high recommendation.
review 2: It could be that I took so long reading this book b... moreecause I didn't have a lot of time to sit, but I just found it ok. It was a little slow and there were times I wished for more character development and less unimportant discription. I kept feeling like something more would happen in the story line and when it didn't I felt myself being a little disappointed.It ended well and was an easy read. less
