Book to Movie Adaptions to be Excited About in 2018

Hello everyone! 2018 holds a great deal of book to movie adaptions. And while it’s always wise to go into the films cautiously (let’s be honest, they don’t always get adaptions right) it’s still so much fun to watch our favorite stories on the big screen. So here are a couple that I’m most excited about. Keep in mind, I only selected ones with set release dates, so this list is a bit limited. (All descriptions come from IMDb).

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda (Love, Simon)

What’s it about? Everyone deserves a great love story. But for Simon it’s complicated: no-one knows he’s gay and he doesn’t know who the anonymous classmate is that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, scary and life-changing.

Starring: Nick Robinson and Katherine Langford

Release date: March 16, 2018

The Darkest Minds

What’s it about? After a disease kills 98% of America’s children, the surviving 2% develop superpowers and are placed in internment camps. A 16-year-old girl escapes her camp and joins a group of other teens on the run from the government.

Starring: Amandla Stenberg and Dick Harrison

Release Date: September 14, 2018

Ready Player One

What’s it about? When the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the Egg.

Starring: Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke

Release date: March 30, 2018

Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Disclaimer: I am fully aware that with the last Maze Runner movie (The Scorch Trials) the book was kind of left behind and a unique storyline was created. So although it sort of lost its ability to call itself an adaptation, I’m still super excited to see how they continue. Also, Dylan O’Brien is a god.

What’s it about: Young hero Thomas embarks on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as the “Flare”.

Starring: Dylan O’Brien

Release date: January 26, 2018

Every Day

What’s it about? A shy teenager falls for someone who transforms into another person every day.

Starring: Angourie Rice

Release date: February 23, 2018

What adaptations are you most excited to see on the big screen?
