review 1: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.Wasn't a huge fan of this anthology personally as I was really hoping for more original stories but the majority of these are snippets from already published books. One or two stories seemed a little out of place but for the most part it was a pretty cohesive collection. A few of the stories required a little more context though the gist of the scene came across fairly well. The best thing I could take away form this is I now definitively know whether I will or won't read certain books based on the extracts presented.
review 2: I must admit I am a bit disappointed by this because I thought it was all new original material but the majority of this book is
... more extracts from existing novels most of which I had already read. Granted most of the extracts came from books I loved and therefore I can't knock the quality of them but that wasn't what I was expected when I first heard about this book. The original pieces of work within this book are all strong pieces and poignant pieces of writing in their own right and I enjoyed them all. I loved how diverse they were and how they all made me think. All in all I can't say I'm not disappointed by this book because it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be when I first heard about it and got incredibly excited by it but if you've not read the titles it includes it'd be a nice introduction to them to give you a feel of what to read next. less
