review 1: This installment of Manix Abrera's Kikomachine Komix marked an important for the series; it was the first of some pretty creative and out of the box covers. This edition has a die-cut cover and I've noticed that it was used creatively by several of his fans for profile pics.I actually took four days to read this book despite its relatively low page count of around 80 pages. It was the language though, my Filipino was pretty rusty. The enforced pace allowed me to enjoy it better, much better than I would have had I done wt normal speed. I've always enjoyed Abrera's slice of life cartoons about college and issues at large that vex the national consciousness. His humorous take on the subject is something I can relate. In fact, I like it so much I hope to impart my enjoyment o... moref it with my students. Better this than the brain dead cartoons that litter the university publication.
review 2: I need to catch up to Manix' Kikomachine Komix. Fast. Mostly "ka-kornihan". That's always amusing.But what really stuck to me was the truth behind all those funny statements.“Pakiramdam ko e andami kong naiisip na dehins magawa dahil alang deadline. Nasanay ata ko sa school tsaka sa trabaho na lahat may deadline. E yung nga naiisip ko tuloy na sariling projects di ko matapos kasi walang deadline.” less
