review 1: I just don't know what to really think of this one. The writing was really awkward for me to read, some of the sentences seemed out of place or just not quite in context. I don't know. It just made for an odd flow to me. I think I have more unanswered questions now I've finished it. Things I liked:1. Roarke's acceptance of Westley's pregnancy.2. The idea that Luna shifters were different from other wolf shifters.Umm...that's all I can think of. Things I didn't like so much:1. The ending. Yeah, it's nice that Josh, a minor character, found his mate, but I was more interested in finding out how Westley was going to have the baby. Not that I wanted to read a gory birth scene (Roarke said he'd have to tear open his mate's stomach in order for the baby to be born), but I did wa... morent to see how the two would react to the birth and to the baby.2. Why did they base their new pack in the same town as the other wolf pack that had tortured and held Westley captive for a year? Yeah, they killed off most of the alphas in that pack, but why stick around? I just didn't understand that. No matter how cheap the land was, there was no way I'd stay in an area where I was kidnapped and tortured and call it home.3. Roarke being so vague and uneducated about his own kind. Because he didn't know important things, I didn't know important things, so I felt very I unsatisfied, as if it was a cop out by the author. I guess I felt a bit cheated out of things that I should have known or learned while the story progressed.4. This seems silly, but I was annoyed toward the end about the descriptions of the house being built. I am not a builder, but I hope I know enough to know that there is a certain order you go through when building a house. You can't have the floors going down inside when you haven't finished framing the house. Ugh.5. The writing style, as I said earlier, was not one I enjoy reading. It didn't read like a book, more like a proposal for a book, if that makes sense.6. The characters had potential, but I was disappointed that they were not more developed. I didn't feel as if I got to know them very much, so I didn't feel very attached or sympathetic. I'm not sure if I will continue the series or not. This is the first book by this author or this publishing house that I've read. I don't think this has completely turned me off of either, but it wasn't the best start for me.
review 2: I only happened to find this first book of the Luna series by accident when I was looking for a feel good mm fury creature book (my preferred book kink) last night. And it was so worth it. There are only a few siren publication series that I following and this one will perhaps be added to that list. I found the story line refreshing but still familiarly pleasant. It was both erotic and emotional, without the normal "you are mine, I will take you now" act.My only complaint, I wanted a bit more... more back story and a bit more I love you's and a bit more emotional discussion between the main character about what happened to Westley in his captivity. That would have added a huge extra star for me! Easy lite and fluffy read. I loved it!! less
