review 1: I love these books, though reading them is so awful. I keep whining about what an awful book this is, yet i can't stop. I continue to love the concept and really want to return to the thorne rooms now! but it's all just a mess. they are so rote, and so talking down to children. everything is so formulaic, and books should never have dreams in them unless it's absolutely essential to the plot, and even then three sentences will do. certainly not more than one dream is allowed!

She intertwines magical objects, art, technology, and student crime solvers. Characters from the first novel also make an appearance to assist Ruthie and Jack throughout the story. Stealing Magic was a faster read than the first novel. The first story lays out the magic and the basics of the Thorne Rooms. This second installment jumps right in, so it is faster paced. I would highly recommend listening (or reading) the first book before venturing into the second.Cassandra Campbell returns to read Stealing Magic. I love it when narrators continue reading a series! Campbell is a mellow reader and shares the story well.Reviewed from a library copy. less

Another book about the Thorne rooms. This one had a simple whodunnit aspect. A nice little read.
