review 1: I've read a couple of the author's other novels and really enjoyed them, so expected to love this one as well, especially as it included dragons. But reading it was often more frustrating than enjoyable. The illustrations were lovely, but there weren't very many of them. And there really weren't many dragons, either. It was rather dry for my taste, even though it was a good story with a likable and strong heroine.
review 2: I loved it, all the way down to the 'deranged practicality' that geys her into SOOO much trouble! Having a fantasy book but still keeping to the scientific method of writing is the twist that seemed to join my two beloved subjects together:biology/natural history and books.
