review 1: I didn't realize this book was #3. It didn't feel like reading a third book. I am really curious about the first two now.I loved the premise of this book. The Great London Fire was caused by a dragon. The fairy court banished the dragon to a passing astronomical rock, only they found out later that it was Hailey's Comet and that it would be coming back, with the dragon. The book was fascinating and I thought she did a great job of blending the fanstastical with the historical.
review 2: I was not disappointed with the third installment in the Onyx Court series. This is a weighty book but it held me in sway from page one and it was difficult to take pauses from reading the story. Marie Brennan is a wonderful author – she weaves history and folklore and fantas
... morey seamlessly together and she has developed characters with depth, for whom you can feel both compassion and frustration in turn. I especially liked that this book centered more on the Prince and Irrith than on Lune, though she is naturally still the center of the story. I believe at least one more book has been added to the series, which I will certainly read. less
