review 1: Mi piacciono queste storie che attraversano le generazioni e con esse i secoli. bambini che diventano nonni, ragazze che diventano mamme, bisnonne che conservano nella memoria la storia della famiglia. E nei loro occhi, nei loro ricordi, nelle loro vite, una regione che cambia, la storia che la modifica lentamente (o forse no?). I contadini, l'unit�� nazionale, il fascismo, il dopoguerra, il comunismo, il boom economico, il terrorismo: l'Italia.
review 2: It follows the story of one family back 4 generations in a small Italian town. The history of life in one of these villages as told from various members of a single family is very interesting. I did have a hard time keeping all the names straight at one point and would have to go back and re-read to remin... mored myself how this particular person was related to another. Also the mixing of past and present as many members of the family live to 100 years old. Venezia does a great job of creating the visual images of the time. less
