review 1: Read with a friend this week. We agreed it was thoroughly enjoyable and well-written. We only had two criticisms of the book. First, the bunny looked a little sad on one page and we really couldn't tell why. Second, we found the choice of dinosaurs, while cute, lacking in explanation. Neither of us have any direct experience with dinosaurs and the book didn't really tell us whether they were smart / dumb / kind / scary. After a little conversation we did agree that we'd both prefer a pet duck or chicken over a pet dinosaur.
review 2: I read the board book How Do I Love You? By Marion Dane Bauer. In the beginning of the story a little girl poses the question- how do I love you? when she is outside during the day. Then throughout the day, she begins countin
... moreg/naming the ways she loves you. At the end of the story, the little girl is outside at night and she wraps the story up by saying she loves everything you will be and already are. The age range of this story is nursery (birth-5 yrs.) because it is a simple story with simple pictures. A baby, toddler, and young school-age child could identify with and understand the pictures. There are many sight words within the story also. The illustrator, Caroline Jayne Church, used color well. The colors are cheerful, vibrant, and bright. She also used a thick, black outline around her drawings on each page which help each character and object stand out. I would recommend this story because it is sweet and touching. It is an easy book to read and understand, and it would be a good baby shower book for someone to receive. less
