review 1: Betraying Season by Marissa Doyle, is an interesting book where you are able to view the values of love and friendship. You're able to experience and explore two different perspectives. Betraying Season is about a young lady named Penelope who travels to Ireland with her governess to study magic. Along the way, she falls in love with the son of another witch, Lady Keating. Lady Keating only befriends Penelope because she needs her witch powers to reunite her son with his biological father which is the duke. Although this book was interesting, I wasn't quite able to figure out what time period of history the story takes place in. I wasn't able to read the book before this one which is called Bewitching Season. Hearing from readers who read both books, they said that the se... morequel, Betraying Season, wasn't as interesting and exciting as the first book. So I'm not able to have an opinion on that. One might want to read this book if they like the theme of love, fantasy, and magic in a novel. As a sophomore student in high school, I personally enjoyed reading this book because of the story being told and for me, it was a page turner. Meaning that I wanted to keep reading. I like how the author let the reader in on two perspectives, Niall and Pen. This helped me get to know who the character was and feel like I was in the story, even though it was written in 3rd person. It is not only an easy read but it is 22 points in the scholastic reading counts system, which is a fair amount of points.
review 2: After reading the first book, "Bewitching Season," I knew that the second one was bound to be great, and I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed. A nice quick read, funny and smart and all around wonderful. I love how this book has a different take on magic, and how it manages to weave stories together. It was so frustrating that, as the reader and knowing what was going on, I couldn't tell Penelope of the danger she was in. Overall, the book was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. less
