review 1: An entertaining read, by an author who obviously knows his subject matter--if he's not always successful in bringing the vision across to the reader. I was surprised to find this was professionally published, as one of my thoughts while reading was that the book would've benefited from a stern beta reader/editor to tighten the prose. At the very least, I'd have expected a copy editor to catch the breath vs. breathe mistakes. That said, those errors didn't distract too much from an enjoyable, if somewhat gruesome, tale.
review 2: A very gritty adventure read, emphasis on "gritty." Very tight, fast-paced thriller. I had a little trouble with the rationalizations of many lifes lost in order to save lives of loved lones--tho that's a tough subject that I'm not abou... moret to pass judgment on--but Phillip, husband/father/ship captain, came across as real. Janac, the villian, is truly villainous, yet he also came across as real. Mark Chisnell, author, is good. He kept my interest throughout and I liked, really liked the ending. less
